Tran Thanh Lam

This great artist has unfortunately passed away on the 25th of June 1997 after a short but painful disease. His painting chosen to symbolize the H&S collection and used for the cover of the book has been realised with love concours, Bonheurand passion for the H&S contest. This painting has received the first price of the contest unanimously after the third day.
Called “Under the moon”, a man and a woman are shown with equilibrium and harmony. The painting is sober but arouses in us a strange interrogation or uneasiness. It is without any doubts one of the artist’s most complete and balanced piece of work.
Tran Thanh Lam was born in 1949 in Hué, in the centre of the country.

• 1991, he participates in the exhibition “As been by both sides” organised in the United States by Indochina Art Project;
• 1992, “Asia Heritage Program”, Notices Gallery, Singapore;
• 1993, “The 30th Asia Modern Art Exhibition”, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum, Japan;
• 1994 & 1995, numerous exhibitions in Seoul, South Korea, where an Art gallery guarantees the permanence of his work and memory.

                               With H&S Art Gallery, exhibitions "Man & Woman" in HCMC in September 1997, in Paris ( Espace Kiron) in December 1997 and in Brussels (H&S Art Gallery) in February 1998.
  
  Unfortunately, Mr. Tran Than Lam died in Summer 1997 and did not see his award as a winner of the H&S ART CONTEST- He won the 1st prize. He was a wonderful and friendly man. We all regret him.
